An Overview of Sariska Tiger Reserve

Sariska Tiger Reserve, established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1958 and later designated as a tiger reserve in 1978 under the Project Tiger initiative, is home to a rich diversity of wildlife. The reserve boasts a thriving population of tigers, leopards, and other species, alongside abundant birdlife, including peafowl, golden-backed woodpeckers, and crested serpent eagles. Sariska's unique landscape features a blend of dry deciduous forests, scrub-thorn forests, and rocky hills, creating a varied ecosystem that supports a wide range of flora and fauna. This combination of rich biodiversity and diverse terrain ensures that every safari in Sariska offers an unforgettable experience. Safari Experience

A visit to Sariska would be incomplete without experiencing one of its famous jeep safaris. The safaris are conducted in the early morning and afternoons, which are the best times to spot wildlife. The guided safari tours allow you to explore the dense forests, rugged hills, and serene lakes of the reserve, with the chance to spot the elusive tiger in its natural habitat. Apart from tigers, the safari offers opportunities to observe other wildlife such as leopards, langurs, and various species of deer, all while being surrounded by the natural beauty of the park.

Best Time to Visit Sariska

The best time to visit Sariska Tiger Reserve is between October and March. During the winter months (October to March), the weather is pleasant, making it ideal for safaris and outdoor activities. The summer months (April to June) can be quite hot and the monsoon season (July to September) is best avoided due to heavy rains that may make the forest trails impassable.

Safari Entry Gates: Tehla Gate vs Sariska Gate

Sariska National Park has two main entry points: Sariska Gate and Tehla Gate. The Sariska Gate, near Alwar, provides access to the core area, offering the best chances to spot Royal Bengal tigers and other wildlife. The Tehla Gate, on the eastern side, offers a quieter experience, ideal for birdwatchers and nature lovers, though tiger sightings are less frequent.
